Manuscript Preparation
The manuscript should be constructed in the normal conventional fashion using standard font type and size, double-line spacing, and continuous page numbering. Acceptable formats for the main manuscript are editable .odt, .doc, and .docx. The manuscript should contains the following primary headings:
Title Page
- Full, concise title.
- Full names and affiliations of all authors.
- Corresponding author(s) details (email, ORCID iD if available).
- Keywords (3-7 keywords).
Abstract
The Abstract must provide a succinct overview of the current issue, the rationale for the research, the methodological approaches employed, a summary of the new results, key findings, conclusions, and any recommendations. This entire section must be limited to a maximum of 250 words.
Introduction
The Introduction should establish the necessary background and provide a coherent progression leading to the goals, objectives, and justifications of the current research. It must clarify the research methods employed and the rationale for their selection, whenever feasible. These choices should be supported by contemporary references to highlight the current scientific relevance and significance of the issue at hand.
Materials and Methods
All materials, analytical equipment, and methods employed must be explicitly and comprehensively described to ensure reproducibility and allow for independent verification. A detailed account of the analytical characterizations employed for the synthesized compounds, including (e.g.,)1H NMR, 13C NMR, HRMS, and FTIR, is required. The corresponding spectra should be included in the supplementary file.
Results
Present the findings of your study clearly and objectively, refraining from including interpretations or discussions unless the Results and Discussion sections have been combined. Avoid redundant presentation of results wherever possible. Duplication of data presented in figures within tables or the text is strictly prohibited. Similarly, results displayed in tables or text should not be redundantly presented in figures. Exceptions should only be made if absolutely essential for clarity and within very narrow limits.
Discussion
The results obtained warrant thorough discussion, emphasizing their significance, implications, and future implications. This must be substantiated by references to analogous and relevant studies, particularly those conducted recently.
Conclusion
The Conclusion section should briefly summarize the main findings of your study and articulate their significance. It should also highlight any broader implications, limitations, or future research directions that arise from your work. This section should not introduce new results or discussion points.
Acknowledgments
Authors should acknowledge individuals, institutions, or organizations that provided support for the research but do not meet the criteria for authorship. This includes technical assistance, valuable discussions, or general support.
Funding Information
Authors must disclose all sources of financial or material support for the research. This includes grants, institutional funds, and any other forms of financial backing. Please provide the full name of the funding organization(s) and relevant grant numbers. If no specific funding was received, please state: “This research received no specific grant from any funding agency.”
Conflict of Interest
Authors are obligatory to unwrap any financial or personal relationships that could be perceived as influencing the work reported in the manuscript. If there are no conflicts of interest, authors must state: “The authors declare no conflict of interest.”
Data Availability
Alkimi encourages authors to make their raw data publicly available whenever possible. A “Data Availability Statement” is required for all submissions, indicating where the underlying data can be accessed. This may include depositing data in a public repository (with links/accession numbers), stating that data is available upon request from the authors, or explaining any restrictions on data availability.
Ethical Approval
For studies involving human participants or animals, authors must provide a statement confirming that ethical approval was obtained from the appropriate ethics committee. If the research is exempt from ethical approval, please state “N/A”.
Figures and Tables
Placement: Figures and tables should be embedded within the main manuscript text near their first mention. Alternatively, they may be submitted as separate, clearly labeled files.
- Resolution: All images (figures) must be provided at a minimum resolution of 300 dpi (dots per inch) for optimal print quality.
- Captions: Each figure and table must have a clear, concise, and self-explanatory caption placed directly below the figure or above the table. Captions should be comprehensive enough to allow understanding without referring to the main text.
- Citation in Text: All figures and tables must be cited in numerical order within the main text (e.g., “Figure 1 illustrates…”, “Table 2 presents…”).
Equations
Equations should be formatted clearly and numbered consecutively, with the number placed in parentheses to the right of the equation (e.g., (1)). Use an equation editor for complex mathematical expressions. Ensure all symbols and variables are defined either immediately after the equation or within the surrounding text.
Units and Abbreviations
- Units: Please use the International System of Units (SI Units) consistently throughout your manuscript.
- Abbreviations: Non-standard abbreviations should be defined at their first mention in the text. A list of all abbreviations used may be included after the Abstract if numerous.
For chemical compounds, please use standard IUPAC (International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry) nomenclature. For biological entities, use widely accepted conventions. Ensure consistency in naming throughout the manuscript.
References
Citation Style: Alkimi uses the ACS (American Chemical Society) Style for all in-text citations and the reference list.
In-text citations: should be indicated by superscript numbers (e.g., ¹, ², ³) placed after the relevant text and typically after punctuation. For example: “The reaction proceeded rapidly.¹” or “Previous studies have shown this phenomenon.²⁻⁴”
Citations are numbered consecutively in the order they first appear in the manuscript. If a reference is cited more than once, the original number is reused.
Reference List: The full references should be listed at the end of the manuscript in a numbered list, corresponding to the order of citation in the text.

Required Documents
Please prepare the following files for upload when submitting your manuscript: Main manuscript file, figures, and tables either embedded within the manuscript or provided in a separate file, supplementary material if applicable, and cover letter (see below for content)
Cover Letter
Your cover letter, addressed to the Editor-in-Chief, should be a concise document that:
- States the title of your manuscript.
- Confirms the manuscript is original and has not been previously published nor is it under consideration elsewhere.
- Confirms compliance with all ethical guidelines outlined in Alkimi’s Publication Ethics policy.
- Briefly summarizes the main findings and significance of your research.
Suggesting Reviewers
Authors are encouraged to suggest up to five unbiased qualified reviewers who possess expertise relevant to the manuscript. Please provide their full names, institutional email addresses, and if possible their institutional affiliations. Please avoid suggesting individuals with whom you have direct collaborations or conflicts of interest.
Excluding Reviewers
Authors may request the exclusion of specific individuals as reviewers if there is a legitimate reason (e.g., direct conflict of interest, previous strong disagreement). Such requests should be made in the cover letter, along with a brief explanation for the exclusion. While we will endeavor to honor such requests, the final decision rests with the Editor.
Peer Review Process
General Process
Upon submission, manuscripts undergo an initial editorial check for scope, completeness, and adherence to guidelines. Suitable manuscripts are then sent to at least two independent expert reviewers. Based on their recommendations, the Editor-in-Chief makes a decision (e.g., Accept, Minor Revisions, Major Revisions, Reject).
Timelines
We strive to provide an initial editorial decision within 2-3 weeks of submission. The time required for subsequent rounds of review will depend on the extent of revisions.
After Acceptance
Proofreading
Upon acceptance, all manuscripts will undergo professional language editing and copyediting to enhance clarity, grammatical correctness, and adherence to journal style, without altering the scientific content or meaning.
Authors will then receive proofs of their accepted manuscript for final review. This stage is primarily for checking typesetting errors, factual inaccuracies, and serves as the author’s final opportunity to review all changes (including those made during copyediting) and to respond to any queries. Please note that extensive changes or new material cannot be introduced at the proofreading stage. Proofs must be returned within 72 hours. Failure to return proofs within this timeframe may result in publication of the article with the copyedited version and without author-reviewed corrections, or a delay in publication.
Copyright & Licensing
Authors retain copyright of their work under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0).
Article Processing Charges (APCs)
As per our Open Access Policy, submissions to Alkimi before December 31, 2025, are exempt from APCs. For submissions made after this date, APCs may apply.
